Pic's of your Customized Factory Knife

Hears a bad etch I did on my EDC .(Scand image.I have no camera)I think it would qualify for customized.
It's an etch of an Ithcus above an infineti signe. It will be second pic down page. Hears link to my homepage.http://demaske.tripod.com/id7.html Please exuse my site I'm just getting it set up.It's a freebee so I can't post pics in forums.
I know there has to be others out there that has done a heck of a lot better job of customizing than I did years ago. So how about we see them.

Not bad Paul...

From what I can make out, I think it looks pretty good. What did you use to etch the bolster?

BTW I'm working on a way for us members to post images directly onto the forum so that it will be easier to show off knives.

Hi Bryan;

I just used a permanent marker (Sharpie by sanford-fine point) Drew what I wanted,built a dam around the part i wanted to etch with wax and with eye droper applied ferric cloride from radio shack. (I am thinking I should have not used it full strength)
This will NOT work on SS. and make sure you dont get that FC in any joints or any where you do not want it. I then rinsed and wased in hot as I could stand soapy water. It would be a very good Idea to rinse in Bakeing soda mixed in water to nutralize the FC and rinse again in warm water and dry .
I've been thinking ,after the etch one could ,if they have a dremel and a steady hand, refine the etch and make it deeper and polish or tecture the backgroud and /or the image highspots as they like.

Here are a couple of small, poor pictures....but it's the best I have:

The first is one I lost out on on eBay.....great scales, filework, and engine turning....even on the blades!

The second is one I am lucky enough to own....also great filework....beautiful Sambar scales.

Sorry the pictures aren't better.

Hey Bill: Merry Christmas

I like the second pic but thats just personal preferanc,I dont care for engine turning anywhere but inside the liners.
But it is nice to be able to place pic's on site now this easily.THANKS BRYAN!!!

Nice work on that Butterbean Paul....makes it very personalized.

I see you're from PA.....Here is a picture of a knife I got from a nice guy (and his wife) in Wyalusing:

I know it's not a factory knife....and I know it's not a "Pocketknife" in the normal sense....but you COULD carry it in your pocket....just to stay in keeping with the material on this site...

Those five blade stockman knives are pretty cool. What is engine turning? I've never heard of it.

It's a form of decorating/customizing used on knives, guns, watches....lots of things. Also known as "jeweling" or "guilloche" (accent over the e).

I posted a picture of this awhile ago, but here are some slightly better ones, with some detail of this knife.
This was originally a 1978 #6392...then 2 additional blades, some Sambar scales, and filework later.....all done by the late Ray Cook, in 1981. It's a very nicely embellished knife.

We must have some other "souped up" factory creations...let's see some!

Mr. Demaske: I have attempted some etch and
DISASTER ! Got to commend your determination. I get uptight
working on knives, but as a novice woodcarver, I fool around with other
projects. Here is the only contribution that I have, on a Schrade that I
have semi-precious inlay for scales.
