Pink debut - 382 Buck Mini Trapper

It would be a lie to claim that my beloved is especially passionate about knives. Cardmaking is more her thing hobby wise... And it is a good thing that we both have hobbies and interests. When I hear sighs and detect some eye-rolling over the new knives on the table in front of me, I can usually disarm her quite elegantly by letting my eyes rest for a moment on the pile of new stamps in front of her.
Sometimes when I look at a knife on my laptop screen, she will lean over and say that she really thinks that I should buy that one. Then I know that yet another package of sooo cute stamps will probably arrive in a day or two.
Speaking of cute, she has a soft spot for things that are pink, and when I stumbled across a pink Buck Mini Trapper, I had to show it to her. She liked it, and, well, she is now the proud owner of that knife.

Last weekend was nice and sunny and we went for a little hike together on both Saturday and Sunday. Still a lot of snow here, but we could really feel the Spring coming. And Spring of course, is knife testing time!

Two knives made their debuts as users this weekend, and her pink Mini Trapper was one of them.

The bright sunlight made the smooth bone look somewhat pale on some of the pics we took, but the color is really quite intensely pink.

This Buck is manufactured in China, but it is well made and the quality is as can be expected from Buck. No blade play and smooth operation.
We had a great time in the sun by a small lake and never intended this to be some sort of hard testing, but the knife saw some use, mainly in food preparation, cutting cheese, tomatoes. apples and oranges. It performed very well and the owner was very pleased with it.

Are there any more pink knives out there in AAPK land?

I gave my daughter a pink SAK for Christmas a few years back but this past Christmas, she had a brain fart and Homeland Security plucked it from her purse. Looks like I already have one item for the 2010 Christmas list.

Nice knife, Froggy. I have never seen a buck in pink before.

My wife is an avid gardener, and recently borrowed one of my pocket knives to do some pruning. I told her she should have her own pruning knife. Her birthday was this week, so I ordered her this Trevor Ablett pruning knife (with her blessing) Haven't received it yet (stock photo). I don't think she will tote this around in her purse -too big - but she does carry a little Swiss Army Classic on her keychain.

That would make a good thread.....does your better half carry a pocket knife, and if so, what kind? - unless someone has already done that?

I see that you're from Norway, and I have a question for you.

Most people here in the US seem to either hate Chinese made knives because they see it as a contributor to our economic problems ,
or they love them because they are well-made and a great value for the money .

What is your take on Scandinavian and European attitudes toward Chinese knives?

Oh, and more importantly, what was on that cracker in the pics?

The first pink Buck I've ever seen too. Not my favorite color in knives, but it really is kinda cool, and perfect for those hooked on pink.
That pruning knife looks very nice!

The idea of a thread about better halfs and their relationships with knives is great!

Thanks for the question. It's a good one, and something I have given some thought already.
I will try to answer, but I do not have the time right now.

Your next question is more easily answered.
It's a Norwegian cream cheese, something akin to the Philadelphia cream cheese, with some apple on top. Never tried that combination before in fact, but it was good!

The most pick I have ever seen is with Sheppard Hills SFOs. I believe a Lady is the boss.

Seems like we see a trend towards more and more pink knives. I don't see myself start carrying them, but I'm all for variety in knives!

Yes Froggy, plucked it from her purse. It was at Christmas and her mother was flying from North Dakota to Chicago, Midway Airport so my daughter drove up to pick her up. Since my ex is almost blind these days, my daughter asked if she could go to the gate to meet her and the counter agent gave her and my granddaughter passes. She forgot the knife was in her purse and when she went through security, they discovered it. She was told she could take it back to the car but if you've ever been to Midway, that's not an attractive option so she surrendered the knife.

I think that we all can agree that planes full of weapons is not a good idea, but is it really necessary to be that rigid..? There should be some room for flexibility and making personal judgements!
