How many knife clubs are still active?

In the 1970's and 1980's there were many knife clubs. I wonder how many of that number are still active today?
There's not as many knife shows...seems to me in the 80's you could attend a show somewhere just about any weekend.
I pulled this picture of a club membership from 1982 of the Col Coon Knife Collector's Club.

That's a good question, I agree that the knife clubs seem to have almost dried up...

I for one would like to see a comeback but with our run fast multi tasking society no one has the time anymore...

Isn't what we are doing here really a modern form of a knife club? Seems like the computer age has changed many things.

I was thinking along those same lines pa, the clubs seem to have faded away or at the very least slowed down at about the same time as the wide world web started booming...

Hey, just to make us feel more official, I'll have some t-shirts made. I know where I can get a great deal on some shocking pink Beefy T's.

Oh that's right I forgot...Bryan already sells caps. Any chance these will be available in shocking pink?

Well I have not yet gone to a knife club (other than this site) or a knife show. I want to go to a KNIFE SHOW .

Every night I come home the first thing I do now is click on this site.

No one said a thing about my hats in my showcase. Did any one see them?

97% of my knives come from the inter net and Ebay. I have found out that the stores in here served me well too. It seems to me that E Bay sellers won't deal or can't because of all the fees. Then you have to under stand each sellers feelings on MINT. That is hard to do on E BAY. IMO

OOPS need to stop. Just rambling on again.

This CLUB has everything one could possibly want. Everyday you get to see fantastic knives, learn from extremely knowledgable collectors, and chat with friends who share a similar addiction

I mean interest. Maybe it is not so much a club as a therapy group.

My club (Chattahoochee Cutlery Club) based near Atlanta Georgia was started in 1973 and is still going strong. We sponsor a yearly knife show(Great Southern Knife Show). Maybe some of you kind folks can visit with us someday.

I agree. I want one or two (dark colors, preferably black or Navy blue) WITH a pocket. Must have the pocket. I am retired and no longer have to dress up, no button down collars, no ties, no sport coats!

My uniform of the day is a Carhartt T-shirt with a pocket, jeans, & a baseball cap. True comfort my friends!

Oh yes, larger sizes (XXL & XXXL) for us retired guys with the middle age spread.

Gonna have to get a AAPK ball cap.

I just attended a NKCA show in Shepherdsville, Ky. today and enjoyed it a lot. I found several rare knives there that I was able to buy. A buddy of mine also did some trading..I like this forum and also sell on Ebay but the shows are fun because of the people and you get to dicker on the prices.
I belong to a local club also.
I would recommend membership in the National Knife Collector's Association because they send you information on where most of the shows are across the country plus they have interesting articles to read and learn from. They also gave me the book on Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery for joining which pretty much made it free to belong.

olderdogs1 I agree,
I am a NKCA member as well, and if your not a member, I would recommend becoming one to support our hobby for future generations. They do send out a News Letter, with knife storeis and show info. The club knives every year are very nice as well. The latest news letter is talking about the Grand Opening of the National Knife Museum, which judging by the pictures will be a great Museum to visit! The knife show calendar lists about 19 knife shows all over the U.S. that someone could attend.
Of course there is always the Case Collectors Club, which only costs a $100 for lifetime membership, and you can sponsor 2 Junior members for free.
It is clubs like this I feel that will help generations keep the tradition of knife collecting alive, by education, and their publications they help produce!
So support the hobby and become a member of a knife organization!
