Nice looking knives! They made so many variations over the years.
There is much knife history with the LF&C CO. James D. Frary left LFC in 1876 and started to make his own knives in Bridgeport Conn. FRARY A-1 WARRENTEED up to 1884. Why they kept the F in the logo is a mystery to me, maybe he rejoined the group after 1884, I am just not sure.

Here's a few of my nicer LF&C pieces. The celluloid cattleman was sold to a good friend of mine, but I'm still the proud owner of the scout knives.

Here's a nice little L F & C I found recently.

Those are all nice looking knives! The only L.F.&C. I own comes from a WW I mess kit. I thought the design was clever. The knife has a pointed blade, no doubt designed that way to serve as an emergency weapon if needed.

Well I finally found a L.F.& C. to add to my knife collection. It is a 4 1/8" Moose with a great unsharpened spear, lightly sharpened clip. Nickel Silver Bolsters, liners and pins.
Universal etch still visible on spear. I had to bid way north of my regular budget for this one.

I figured that it was about time that added to this 5 year old thread that hasn't had a posting in 4 years. Sorry for the delay but life is getting in the way of my knife addiction and it's taken a while to pull some photographs together. I'll try to post a few every couple of days.

They're not wood. I don't think they're cell. They look to be some type of composite. I need help with that. I will try to get better picture.

They referred to the material as "Rubberoid" it was used to simulate genuine stag.

L.F.& C. used this material extensively very few jigged bone or genuine stag handled knives will be found from them, although there are plenty of genuine M.O.P. knives to be had.

Is "Rubberoid" a smooth surface? There is no jigging on this knife. The handles are hard and smooth. I know it's not but it sorta looks like micarta only slicker.

Early on L.F.C. also used buffalo horn for covers in very limited quantities and the smoothness and non-synthetic looks of yours might just be horn but my best guess is the covers are ebony which is finely-textured and has a very smooth finish when polished which often makes it not look like wood.
