Kershaw makes several assisted opening that are really good, dependable knives. You might want to look at their website or check here at AAPK in the store section.

hey W5, I like this H K made by Benchmade. Its blade is a little shorter and stouter than most Benchmade autos. And I like a drop point. It is also very smooth and really fast. Mark

I have both Kershaw and Sog.

I think the Sog is better built and will last longer.

The Kershaw needs to have a good set on the linelock.

It my not hold all the time. OUCHEEEE .!!!

But I love my Rainbow. Just sent it back for an ajustment.

Buck makes some nice, moderately priced assisted openers. They have the Impulse, Rush, Tempest, and Sirus models to choose from. All are USA made to the best of my knowledge.

You didn't mention if you were doing the assisted open knife on a budget or not W5 but that Taylor LLC. USA Schrade that is assisted opened (and opens real fast too ), and made by a new USA cutlery company that makes very good quality knives, is very nice.

I EDC a Kershaw Mini Mojo. The blade is 13C26 so it is good steel but that is not the best aspect. This knife ahas a positive blade lock that I do not think could be overcome with any practical use of the knife. It also has a positive release lever lock that I also can not think can be defeated by any thing you stick in or carry in your pocket. Both are "passive" in that they do not slow down the opening or closing of the knife and the knife can be safely closed with one hand.

The reason I actually started using this particular knife is the handle insert can be easily removed and replaced with gemstone without affecting the ability to take the knife apart and Kershaw has indicated if one of my knives neded factory warranty service the gemstone inserts I do will not void the factory warranty.

Kershaw Cyclone on the way. 5" closed linerlock. Sandvik 13C25 stainless standard edge blade with dual thumb studs and bead blast finish. Speed-Safe assisted opening blade. Black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handles with lanyard hole. Stainless pocket clip. Made in USA.

The Leek is a great knife. Very dependable.
I got one a few years ago at their factory sale that has a carbon steel Damascus blade.

It is one of my favorite Kershaws.

orvet Can you show us a new photo of her now that she is used for more than a year?

I want to see how much better the Damascus blade holds up.

Does it show scratchs less also?

How long will the black hold up showing the grain?

I took one of my DAM Leeks and polished it up so much I had to add some tape so I could hold onto it.
I carried this one for a while and it just shows some slight discoloration in certain areas.
Washed with water and a little soap then re-oiled afterward. I really like the Leek and usually have one as back-up.
