Real or fake Case xx/usa Transition?

Could anyone tell me about this knife if it looks real or fake? Is this knife Green Bone or did someone try to color it?

It looks to be a XX to USA transition Congress pattern knife from the pictures. I don't think I would call that green bone though.

This knife looks familiar. I think it is listed on ebay by an AAPK member. I can attest to the fact that his knives are legit.

Thanks for the info guy's and yes this knife is on ebay I am looking for a old case 6488 and I seen this one and those handles on this knife looked a little strange to me. I just started collecting case and I'm still learning.... Thanks

That's a nice knife in what I would call "regular" bone with some color at the edges. Consistent with the late XX era.

I would also highly recommend attending some knife shows. You get a much better "eye" for the differences in regular bone, red bone, and green bone. Books are great, but you have to you pick up a knife and inspect it to become most knowlegable.

OK Thanks guy's for the info. I would really love to go to a knife show but I live in Harlan, KY and I haven't ever seen a knife show close by that I could go to. I work in a Coal Mines and I can't take of work to go to one. I wish they would have one around here somewhere on a weekend so I could go.

The NKCA show comes to Ft Mitchell, Ky. the first weekend in May.
I know that's a bit of a distance, however it may be worth your time to make the trip.
My sister-in-law is a coal miner's daughter from Harlan County.

Maiden name was Seale. She moved from your area in the mid 60's. Her parents are deceased and buried in Harlan. She still has relatives there.

Ok I thought he still works in a coal mines here in Harlan I worked with a guy that Had the last name Seale a few years ago I can't think of his first name but he might not be related to your sister-in-law.

Randy, For another reference, subscribe to Knife World. It's a monthly publication that has lots of info on old, new, and custom knives. Plus, there's listings of both knife shows and club meetings in it. This link will get you there.

the one tang was from an orig knife made 1965-1969 and the other tang marking is from a 1940-1964 case knife. tjis tells me this is a refurbished - remade knife.

Randy, Im from eastern Ky too, though not as far east as you, there was a knife show in Knott County a couple weeks ago at a Sports Complex on route 80, I dont think that is terribly far from you. LOTS of knives were there !!!!

I wish I had known about that knife show I would have sure tried to go. I have never been to one and I would love to go to one just one time
