If not mistaken, the IXL he has listed is in truth not an IXL but rather is an Eye XL. That was Schlieper's Japanese version of the Eye Brand from about the 1960s.
It is hard to see the tang stamp on his knife very well but I'mm betting there is a eye in the middle of that triangle.

COOL. The knives looked nice, but they didn't add up to what he was saying. I read several of his descriptions and his information on knives is sparse at best. He freely admits that he knows not much too.

A. G. Russell, of Springdale, AR, is a long time dealer in vintage knives and those of custom makers. For many years, he sent out a "List" of knives for sale. Then, he started a bonafide catalog sales company, and continues to market the wares of several custom makers. He has had many knives made with his name on them.

He started selling "Cattaraugus Knife Collector Club" knives several years ago. They are well made pieces, but do not really look like much of anything that The Cattaraugus Cutlery Company ever really made. One that comes quickly to mind was a little sway-back lokking Barlow knife with a "Bullett" shield, like the Remingtons of old, but I'm pretty sure they carried the Catt stamp.

Look him up on the internet. "A.G. Russell Knives" will probably provide a successful Google result. Order one of his free catalogs. Buy something, and you'll get the catalog for about the next five years. He doesn't give up on you easily.

He sells some really nice stuff. Not cheap, but not overly expensive, in a custom knife sort of way, either.

BTW; There's a Challenge toenail on FleaBay.
