flipper or locking blade folders

This may be a dumb question, but I'm totally new to repairing or customizing a folding knife I'd like to know before I screw something up. The questions is: is there any difference in the procedure for disassembling a lockback or any other type of locking blade folder vs a traditional slipjoint?

it depends entirely on how the locking folder was put together. Traditional lockbacks are very similar in design, and share many common assemblies with slipjoints (Pin together construction, materials, etc)

Modern screw together tacticals can be significantly different in construction. Liner and Frame locks are completely different in function from spring based traditional knives

I think if I were going to take apart any assisted opener of any sort, I would want to put it in a plastic bag to keep from having parts shoot all over the room!
