Whats Wrong with this Winchester...

So this was a knife I took an interest in, and did my homework prior to bidding. I sent a message to the seller with no reply, asking a question.
There is something I discovered about the knife that does not fit with the knife, what is it, and why?

ya got me. the pattern fits. 2=blades, 3=gen. pearl, 06= pattern num. look like the picture of the knife in my book. the blades look a little rounded but.....i'm not that well versed on winchester

I found a picture in one of Sargents early books, it looked to be a long pull master blade. The pic was poor so can't be really sure

Bill,
Your right on the money.
Photos I have show the pen blade as a Nail File.
Looking at the pin for the pen blade, it shows up pretty clear in the pic, which could indicate a changed blade. The seller stated that the pen blade was stiff, and I am guessing because it does not belong to that knife. Seller never did reply to my question about the knife and possible blade change. My references say the knife in Mint Cond would be worth about $180.
Glad I did my homework before placing a bid!

one of my books states "spear and pen blades" for that pattern and shows a picture of one. the pin showing does not always mean it's been tampered with. i think it's a toss-up as to it's authenticity. still a nice old winchester.

I'm sure Johnnie could be correct, as I was going only off of one picture, in one book. It could be legit. I think if it doesn't look/feel right, let it go. JMO.

I also guessed a file because of this little beauty, that was recently gifted to me by a nice fellow here on the forums. It is a 2 5/8" Winchester pen, tipped bolsters, that looks to be a 2303, but the last digit is quite worn.

Still, a great little knife, and I thank him for his generosity.

hey bill, i kept looking through my books and found a another pic of a 2306 and it had a file blade. so it might have been made both ways. i like your little pen knife. that size is perfect for edc/grooming. like you say, if it does'nt look/feel right, let it go. good advice.
