Knives issued to you by some organization?

Post by mtds »

This Camillus electricians' knife was issued to me in 1969 while I was serving in the Marines. I was "in the rear with the gear", assigned to maintain an air traffic control system at one of the Marines' electronics schools. One day when I reported for work the Staff Sergeant I worked for handed me this knife. He didn't have a chit for me to sign (which was unusual) so I figured it was mine to keep. It felt like some sort of reward or attaboy. However, I was carrying a Buck (Schrade-made?) four-inch premium stockman at the time and this Camillus seemed pretty clunky and crude, so it didn't see much use. Still, I've held onto it all this these years and plan to pass it on to my son along with my uniform.

How about you? Ever been given or issued a knife as part of your work or profession?

In da rear wit da gear/ REMF!! ;)
I know somebody had to do it, and I'd been there too if they'd a let me. LMAO

Nearly lost a finger to one of those damn things in the Tonkin Gulf in '72 trying to get a DZUS fastener on an A-7C to unass.. Liner lock let go and it got me big time when it closed.

Float checked that punk and ground the edge off that screwdriver thingy on every one I got after that. ;)

We got 'em from the ship's stores for the asking.

Didn't make it home with any of 'em. LOL

Still hate those things.

Nah, I was punk a--ed enlisted so never got a Kabar (except for the one I bought off a guy from supply when I got to 29 Palms. Left my locker open and it disappeared. Do you suppose it ended up back in supply?). My first MOS was 1141 (electrician) but I never really got to work in my MOS. I have a TL-29 around here someplace but don't remember where it came from or where it is now. I think it's Klein.

Owd Wullie. Were you a doggie?
