Help date Sheffield dagger

[Herb Walsh]

I have a small spear point dagger marked: "Corsan, Denton & Co. Sheffield". In trying to research it on the Internet I find knives labeled Civil War and made by "Corsan, Denton, Burdekin & Co. Sheffield". I would like to know if the name Burdekin was added which would make my knife older or if the name Burdekin was dropped making my knife newer. Any help on dating my knife is appreciated. Thanks.

I am going to say you have the earlier knife. Goins' shows this dated 1850-1852. Burdekin was added 1852-1860. Hope this helps!

As promised here are photos of my little dagger. It is not in good condition and probably close to being a relic, in my opinion. The blade is pitted; the pearl scales are chipped on both sides; the guard is bent and there is no scabbard. Overall length is 8 1/2". Blade length is 4 1/2". I would be interested in knowing what the readers think it is worth. Thanks
