The first knife in my collection

I make knives as a hobby, and use them often as tools. Never have collected them before, and can't carry one where I work. I was given a Hen and Rooster mother of pearl trapper for Christmas this year and started doing research into folding knives, and I've already bought four more since then. Here are some pics of the one that started it all.

Knife collecting can be very addicting. One turns into 4 , then a dozen, and before you know it, you'll have hundreds.

I've made knives for going on 21 years in Feb. and have never been without a pocket knife of some sort in my pocket since I was old enough to carry a knife.

But, I only started "collecting" knives a couple of years ago. All factory knives mostly Case SFO knives with the cross in the handle. I've sold factory knives on the side for years and I guess that's my trouble, when I buy a knife it's usually with the intention of turning a small profit.

But, that's just business.

The older I get, the more I want to hold on the the knives that just make you say WOW when you first see it. I think that's what makes us all collectors. That WOW factor.

Now go buy another knife to feed your addiction!

I took a look at the knives you have made and was impressed. You do nice work.

I'm not a knife collector, I just accumulate them. Tell my wife I don't want em all, just a few more.

Been telling her that for nearly thirty years now.

Nice pearl on that trapper......four since christmas...yes, welcome to the world of folder addiction. Got bitten by that bug last year...its been a fun and interesting ride.

Nice work your doing with fixed blades

I've made a few out of some old Nicholson files. After seeing your rasp blades

started looking for those Simmons a friend gave me last year.

You NEVER forget your first..........knife that is!
Still have my first knife I bought at the age of ten(in 1954)for the exorbitant price of.....................59 cents!Just an old plastic handled hunter(no mfg's name on it but looks like an Imperial).Wouldn't sell or trade it for anything even if it was worth anything.
My first pocket knife is long gone(a green plastic handled Colonial fishjack switch)but I have a couple that are nearly identical.No sentimental value there though.

Cuz there are many FIRST things in live.

Here is my First Knife I pick out to pass-on to my son.

I used the money I got from my dad when he pass-on.

This is what started me in collecting knives.

I don't make folders yet, although it's on my list of things to do. I like osage, nice and yellow, makes for good contrast. It does burn easily on the grinder, so you have to be careful and use fresh belts.
