MSRP of Spyderco Tenacious vs. MSRP of Spyderco Dragonfly

Is there any convincing explanation for the Tenacious MSRP of $49.95 and the Dragonfly MSRP of $59.95 (FRN)??

indeed there is. the Dfly is VG10, and made in japan, whereas the Tenacious is 8CR13MOV (and it's MSRP is $59) and is made in China. The Tenacious is designed to be a lower end spyderco, using the same steel as the entry level "Byrd" line of knives. The dragonfly is designed to be just a small spyderco.

I didn't either until I picked up one of their "gents" knives for customization. It was the sharpest knife out of the box I'd ever laid hands on. I liked the ergo's alot, so I picked up a few more. I will say, hands down that of all the Spydies I've handled and worked on, my favorite is Chad Los Banos' Lava design. Small blade, amazing ergos, great steel. It was "good" to start with, but after rebuilding it with titanium and G10 instead of steel slabs, it's damn near perfect.

Don't sell the Tenacious short. For what it is, it's a very good knife. I've been very impressed with 8Cr13Mov (both from CRKT and Spyderco's byrd's) for both ease of sharpening and edge retention. Around that price point there is alot of junk and 420 stainless. While the ergo's are not as nice as the spyderco, the Buck Vantage pro with S30V is another awesome value blade (I have one of those as well clipped to my backpack harness)

Tenacious is pretty high up on my wish list! I prefer liner or frame lock to lock back in most cases. And I have a Byrd knife (Robin G10) with the steel and like it (the steel).

The Robin itself is very good of fit and finish and is a FINE knife when open. Takes up WAY too much space "Chord" wise when closed.
