recent work photo dump!

Post by Darksev »

been keeping busy, but not alot of it fits here IMO. Sure, it's all pocket knives, I dunno, I prefer to keep my traditionals here since there's not much an audience for that elsewhere. You guys are special! Regardless, I figured I'd show off some of my recent "experiments". Just stuff for me to play with and carry mostly.

CRKT Stubby razel. 8CR13MOV steel. fileworked frame, textured undyed G10 (kind of semi-translucent. think slime) handles, replaced the washers with PB, tumble finished the whole thing for a few days. Didn't like the pocket clip, so I did a mini-lanyard with a homemade G10 bead (black and natural)

Spyderco Urban w/ natural G10. linerless model, so I kept the same concept. some different filework for me, I did eventually end up grinding off the heads of those corby rivets at the rocker pin. Typical VG10 steel. Love it almost as much as carbon :)

Byrd (by spyderco) Wings slipit. Uses the same bladesteel as the CRKT (which I've been carrying for a while. Really impressed me. Keeps a nice edge, and sharpens a bit easier than VG10 and much easier than S30V) Originally wanted to remove the bolsters, but I'd have had to find 16 pins and drill them out, and the did a damn good job of hiding them in the liner. Brown textured G10, textured bolsters, tumble finish on everything. Did a weird little experiment with the blades, ended up with a stock finish on the cutting edge and a tumbled finish everywhere else. Kinda a reverse hamon, if you will. Looks neat (to me) and keeps the pocket scratches at bay.

Might have some really nifty slippies here soon. Waiting on some parts

Thanks for lookin, as always!

OK Adam,
Thanks to all your work on "modern" folders you have me thinking in that direction.
When I get caught in the shop, I am thinking of doing a few Kershaws I have.
