H. Littlewood's Celebrated Cutlery Congress

[Another Knife Collector]

Here's one of my favorite knives in my collection, despite its' damage. A congress marked H. Littlewood's Celebrated Cutlery. I can't seem to find any information about the maker and would appreciate any data that may be out there. At the beginning of its life it had ornate bolsters, with just a hint of decoration left today. I have found a recent auction of a "bowie" knife with the same marking, http://www.cowanauctions.com/past_sales ... emid=66970 . It appears to be of Sheffield manufacture. Not very specific, but I beleive it can be limited to the 1860's-1880's era, likely towards the earlier. Thanks for any help.

Man, I went to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost- that being Goins, Price, and Tweedale. Could not find a thing on this stamp. I think you are right, in that it appears to be 1800's and Sheffield. Hopefully,.. someone has an answer.

In Levine's 5th Edition, there are a few references to probably earlier relations to H.Littlewood.
Two are listed in the 18th Century Sheffield Cutlers' Marks.
First is "Littlewood & Hatfield, Park" (Park Street?) under Common Pocket & Pen Knives, Manufacturers in Sheffield.
Second is "Littlewood John, Silver Street" under Table Knives, Silver & Plated.
In the Cutler's Company of London Recorded Pictorial Tourchmarks, there is a "Robert Littlewood" dated 1664.

Not familiar with that name but the curved shield and the word,"Celebrated" seem to date it around 1860-1870.I have a couple of George Wostenholm knives with that word in the stamp and an 8 bladed congress marked,"H.W.Mason Co.Sheffield" with pearl scales and a near identical shield.
