Samuel Langhorne Clemens?
My wife says this fella' looks like Mark Twain? Not so sure about that, but here is yet another cowboy bottlestopper. This one was inspired from a carving by Phil Bishop. I used my burnt orange GEC congress as much as possible on this one. I really like those GEC's

Thanks for the good thoughts and kind words Barry and Phil. I've started using boiled linseed oil again on these guys, raises the grain and adds some warmth to the acrylic wash. Just have to be careful of how you dispose of those oil soaked rags, that stuff can combust and burn your house down. Thanks again for lookin' fellas' and your kind thoughts

Thanks for the kind words Smoke, I hope your stoppers are serving you well.
Thanks for your kind words as well, Don. I use knives, u-gouges and v-tools, whatever it takes to achieve the affect I’m going for. Sometimes, I will carve with only a knife, if I desire a “folk” feel. The gouges and v-tools can speed up the carving process and of course, makes a great excuse to buy more tools.
Thanks again guys.

Masterful work, as usual, CD.
I can see why your wife finds it evocative of S. L. Clemons.
However, I find it to bear a striking resemblance to a veteran American character actor named L. Q. Jones. He's been around forever. Played in The Virginian on TV in 1962, and the most recent role I recall was as Three Finger Jack in the latest version of Zorro.

Thanks so much for the kind words, Charlie. I like L Q, great character actor, I believe he also played a small role in the movie "The Edge?" Thanks again for the kind thoughts.

Thanks for the gracious thoughts Gary. Some carvings come out OK, others seem to be just decorative firewood
