Bayonets from WWl

A friend wants to sell these, I don't want get kicked off this forum for selling, so if they need to be moved, do so. I think he is asking $100.00 each . One is a Remington, I can't tell on the other two. One has a GB and a Crown on the hilt, and the other might be a Winchester, but cannot tell for certain!

The 2 with the slashes on the handles fit the U.S. 1917 Enfields. they were so marked as not to get mixed up with the 1903 Springfields bayonet.

Nice looking old bayonets.

I moved them down to the Advertisements Forum where people looking to buy are more likely to look.
There is a shadow thread in the Fixed Blade Forum so it can be accessed from either forum.

If I had a few more $$ I might be interested myself......too close to Christmas & I have 15 grandkids!

I'll clarify what he has
The Pattern 1907 bayonet does not mount to the Pattern 1914 (U.S. M1917) rifle. The muzzle ring is too low. The P14/M1917 rifle utilized the Pattern 1913/M1917 bayonet. The P1914/M1917 bayonet has two deep vertical grooves in the wooden grip scales to readily distinguish it from the P1907. The only difference between the British (P13) and U.S. (M1917) bayonets are the markings. They were all made in the USA.

The top bayonet ( w/o the slashes in the grip ) in the top picture is the Pattern 1907.


The two with the slashes were also used on the Winchester M1897 "trench guns" via an adapter that clamped to the barrel.

THey are WAY cool. I learned to play one like a trombone. You can pull the trigger and keep it pulled and jack that slide and she'll bust one off every time the bolt goes into battery. In my prime, I could get 6 aimed rounds off as fast as a man with an auto. Stoke that puppy with No 1 buck and you can get some serious lead flying.

Only bad part about doing that is if you let your right thumb slide up on the pistol grip too that bolt will make the knuckle on your thumb a bit lower in height.

I learned that the hard way.

I had a buddy in the Marine Corps who got stuck on guard detail for Air Force One.
Pres. Nixon flew into El Toro and took a chopper down to San Clemente.
My buddy Doc was struck out on Air Force One all night with 3 other Marines making sure NO ONE came near the President's bird. They gave him a 12 gauge with 00 buckshot.
In the middle of the night somebody comes walking out to the plane. They told the guy to HALT three times and the Corporal of the Guard says "Get Him!"
Doc said he did it by the book, aimed 3 feet behind the guy and bounced the shot off the tarmac into the target. He touched off the shot and the guy went down like a tree.
He when running over and put his foot on the guys neck, pulled out his Zippo and said; "Of crap.....it's a Lt!"

When the 00 hit the tarmac it of course dug up a bunch of little rocks and carried them along into the target, i.e. the Lt’s derrière. Doc said the guy was hamburger from his feet up to his belt.

It turns out that Lt. was a pilot who had a few too many at the ‘O Club’ and wanted to see what the Commander In Chief was flying in. For his trouble he got a very sore hinny and, IIRC, kicked out of the Corps.

Ya’ don’t want to be on the wrong end of one of those trench sweepers!
