1985 KaBar Collectors Club knife

I'm posting some pix of a knife I bought on EBay recently. A 1985 KaBar Collector Club - Dog's Head Barlow. A really pretty knife. There is no pattern number tang stamp, and I'm wondering what the handle material might be. It's a real dense material polished to a super smooth sheen. Does anybody have any idea what it might be? Also, I haven't been able to find the KaBar Collector knives in any price guides. Does anyone have any idea what it's value might be? Thanks for any responses - Cliff

The scales are made of jigged bone and are colored, looks great with the dog head!

Levine's 5th Edition (sorry, I bought it before I knew any better) lists the 1985 barlow with the solid 14K gold dog's head shield at $125

Thanks Camillus and danno50 for your responses. Now I know a little more about that knife. I paid $132 for it on ebay so I guess I overpaid a little but, you know how that goes - I just really wanted that knife. Thanks guys - Cliff

Remember, Levines 5th Edition was published in 2001 so the knife probably has increased in value. There were only 200 produced. There are a lot of $132. in the world but only 200 of the 1985 Dog's Head Gold Barlows.

As you can see I'm an expert at rationalizing knife purchases.

I'm sure that like most of us, on occasions I have paid over the odds for a knife however I always rationalise on what I would have spent the 'difference' on. Over here in th UK a large beer is at least 4 dollars and I know which I would rather have.

Yours is a great knife, a worth whatever you paid.

I am in agreement with Don and greyelm, that is a beautiful knife and I do not think you overpaid. I meant to post this some time ago and their posts were a reminder that I had not.
