Remington Dilemma
So I am sitting here looking at what might be an old bullet knife. Not sure but thinking it's from the 90's. The box has never been opened. I know this as the label that holds it closed on one end is intact. It's been sealed a long time I know that. What to do? =) Frankly I don't even know what it looks like. It was purchased so long ago.

Not sure if this is the same exact model but here’s an old listing for a 18565 Waterfowl R2.

Re: Remington Dilemma
The knife is a Delrin Stag waterfowl knife. Made by Camillus. Its not an “old” original Remington Bullet. These routinely sell on eBay for under $100. It’s a nice well made knife but not a high value collectable relative to an old bullet knife. I don’t recall ever seeing a “waterfowl” pattern like it made by the original pre-1939 Remington Cutlery.
Whether you open the box or keep it as-is, is up to you.

Personally - I would open that box. Someone has to be the first to put his fingerprints on the blades.

The box is what got it to its destinations safely now it’s time to take it out and put it in your pocket.

Re: Remington Dilemma
I'd open the box, inspect the knife, clean the knife, lube the knife, and then put it into my carry rotation and use it.

Re: Remington Dilemma
There's a chance you could carefully pry up the part of the label inked 18565 with a small, pointed blade and it would re-seal.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Re: Remington Dilemma
Isn't the label only on one side of the box and it can be opened from the other side1967redrider wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2026 5:28 pm There's a chance you could carefully pry up the part of the label inked 18565 with a small, pointed blade and it would re-seal.![]()
