Welcome to Wharncliffe Wednesday, Skip It's always nice to have different members join in and show their Wharnies

I believe the blade on your unmarked wirejack is actually a classic Sheepfoot (or "Sheepsfoot", I see it spelled both ways, not sure which is correct or if both spellings are considered acceptable variations, like "Spay" and "Spey". Only seen it written "Sheepsfooty" one time fairly recently My spellcheck prefers it spelled with two "s" and no final "y" for some reason ). While a Sheepsfoot does have the characteristic straight cutting edge of a Wharncliffe, the only real difference is in the steepness of the slope from the spine to the tip of the blade. On a Sheepfoot, like yours, the slope is steeper and more abrupt compared to a Wharncliffe that has a more gradual, longer slope. In mathematical terms, it's a difference in the gradient of rise over run: on a Wharncliffe, run > rise (more run, less rise), on a Sheepsfoot, rise > run (more rise, less run). At any rate, I would consider a Sheepfoot to be a close cousin of a Wharncliffe....."Wharncliffe adjacent", if you will, so no need to delete your post. It's good to see variations for comparison and educational purposes

I used to have a wirejack with a Queen-marked Wharncliffe blade but I sold it. IIRC, "herbva" Herb owns it now. Perhaps he will read this and post it

In recognition of the one year anniversary of Wharncliffe Wednesday (less one day if we're splitting hairs), I submit my very special group of Wharncliffes all of which have experienced the modification magic of our very own glennbad.....except for the Lone Wolf Paul Perfecto which was modified by our late AAPK brother Ivoryman (RIP buddy ).

Not only is this a great group of Wharnies, but also a testament to the abilities of the knife mechanics here.

Had time to dig a few out ... 'Q' you will recognize the top two, although the toplock is technically an adjacent wharny.

Great show Kerry, Q, Mel, & Tony! Fantastic variety of beautiful Wharncliffes, with phenomenal layouts & photography as well!

Love seeing both of those beautiful GlennGood Ivory Copperlocks in your collection, Q! I know they have a very cool history and great sentimental value. Even better that one has the cap end bolster and the other is a barehead.

Here is a recent pick-up from my knife brother on the Big Island. Q-Cliffe was selling a few that I just couldn't pass on (what a surprise ), and when I received my package, his generosity was obvious once again, with this big 'ol Queen Carbon Fiber Wharnie added to the shipment to go with the Wampus Cat I had posted on an earlier WW. This new Queen has great action and fit & finish, so I may have to use the pocket clip and slip it in the pocket for big jobs. Thanks again, Q, for your continued generosity with this wonderful "Bomb" that will be added to my ever-expanding Wharncliffe collection. More pictures of some of the other beauties to come later.

Skip, I totally understand your logic and reasoning for deleting your wirejack photos; however, I agree with Mel that you did NOT need to delete them. One thing to consider, that I mentioned at the end of my post above where I tried to explain the difference between a Sheepsfoot and a Wharncliffe blade, is the educational value of being able to compare and discuss topics like this. I have no doubt that there are many people, both now and in the future, who will read this thread and learn something they didn't know before and possibly even had questions about themselves. For that reason alone I wish you had NOT deleted the photos of your Sheepsfoot wirejack. But, it was your post, your knife and, therefore, your prerogative. I urge you to reconsider and re-post the photos (they were very good photos, too, BTW )

With this being the 1st Anniversary of Wharncliffe Wednesday, I just couldn't leave well enough alone, so I followed the "Beautiful Group Shot" theme with some Custom & Customized Wharnies to add to the celebration of this momentous occasion. Unfortunately, I don't follow the rules as well as Skip, so if you look close enough, you will see there is one knife in the group that would not qualify as a Wharnie, but it is close and one of my favorites, so I just couldn't leave it out.
