First Cup Diner!

Good morning. Phil, I have a concrete saw they can borrow. We got rain last night with some rumbles, but I don't think it will amount to much. Tonight and tomorrow is supposed to be more of a rain event. We'll see. I'm heading back to the hickory floor project. I'd take some pictures but I have no idea where I put the camera and I don't have a smart phone. Our granddaughter Cassady who lives in out basement mini apartment while her and her husband look for an apartment after the one they were living in got sold, is almost nine months pregnant, and it appeared the baby might show up last night. Jason and Melody took her to the hospital. They checked her out and sent her home. It was a false alarm, and she just headed off to work. Our grandson-in-law Dan works in southern Minnesota as an electrician and is gone 4 days each week. When the kid does actually show up, we will be 4 generations living here until they find another apartment. I have a feeling that Melody will do what she can to delay them leaving when that kid arrives, which is OK especially with Dan working away for much of the week. This is Cassady's first baby. Her sister has 5 and her brother, who just got engaged, is perfectly happy with none. Melody just left for work and Jason and I are leaving shortly and Jane is still snoring. Good Mornin', Folks.
Sittin' here enjoying my coffee. Been to men's prayer meeting at 6. Yesterday we had a successful morning riding the zeroturn. After dinner I had a couple from church stop by for a nice visit. Had my nap and later decided to water some flowers that I have been neglecting, Miss Joy wouldn't be happy with my neglecting her plants. I have been paying attention to a couple of the night blooming plants that are getting close to opening. Before I got done watering, the pastor and his wife stopped by for a visit. Shortly after they left we had a pretty good rain, 0.3 inches in the gauge this morning.
Before going to bed I always set my phone to wake me on Tuesday mornings, the phone sounded off at 2:30. Tried to silence it, thinking I had set it wrong, it kept ringing, I realized I was getting a call. One of my friends was calling, saying he needed a ride. Where are you? He said at the Jackson County hospital. He had experienced some chest pains last evening and the VA emergency nurse sent him to the hospital by ambulance. So at 2:30 he needed to get home. He is also a widower living by himself. Back to bed after 4:30 for an hour. A morning nap may be on tap.

Morning folks, 71 may make the mid 80's, more pop-ups possible, we had a nice shower yestiddy about a quarter of an inch, not much but I didn't have to drag thet old hose pipe around so I'mthankful.
Wampus was here the boss fed him for a change. He seems to like her less than me, he barely tolerates either of us but seems to enjoy the grub we provide.
I weedeated and cut the grass yestiddy so that's taken care of.
I've got an appointment this afternoon to get the bosses car serviced.

Good morning. It appears our overnight rain event is nearly over and we might see a little sun later this afternoon. There might be another batch coming through in a couple hours. Yesterday I noticed that the new pneumatic flooring nailer I just bought was leaking air. We tried to tighten the air hose fitting and it got worse. We took the fitting off to inspect it and found a crack in the housing. We made the 80-mile round trip back to Menards to exchange it for a non-defective one. We were nearly out of rosin paper for under the flooring anyway, so we picked that. The laminate flooring for the cabin utility room is supposed to come in this morning so another 80-mile round trip will likely be in order. It was supposed to arrive on their truck last Friday at the latest, then Monday, then Tuesday. I'm not holding my breath. I need to bring back the $50 box of nails that they said would fit the nailer but don't. I should have opened the box in the store when I bought them to check, but the salesperson seemed so sure they were the right nails that I mistakenly took his word for it. We are getting paid by the hour but it still is frustrating dealing with Menards and Home Depot. Cassady still hasn't had her baby yet and she went to work yesterday. The doctor told her on Monday night, when Jason took her in because she was showing sighs that indicated the baby might be coming, that it could be a couple days, or a couple weeks before the kid decides to show up. I still remember the "hurry up and wait" scenario from our kids being born 50 years ago. Jane's birthday is in two days so she is hoping for that date. I gotta run. Have a good Wednesday.____Dave

Good Mornin', Folks.
Summer is in full swing, 74° was our low this morning, chance of afternoon showers. Got 0.35 inches yesterday afternoon during nap time. It was steamy after the little shower. Got mower gasoline yesterday afternoon, no excuse for not mowing today, yet.
Hummingbirds are active this morning as a have my 1st cup. Haven't seen a deer in the yard for a week or so, they are probably on a different schedule than I'm on.
Wednesday evening Bible study for the next 5 weeks will be a bit different. The children and youth programs have been halted during July the last few years for some reason. A men's and a separate ladies' study begins tonight. Men will be doing a study on Demolishing Doubt.

Morning folks, 72 the low lower 80's predicted highs.we got another quarter of an inch pop-up yestiddy afternoon. Chance of more today, will probably start raining and rain all day as my roofer has his crew tearing
off roofing as I hunt and peck. Sounds like a war zone up there.

Got up earlier and had a little prayer time and now I'm on my first cup. It supposed to be 81° today, so I can survive that, it's not bad here where humidity is not too high. I have a 1:00 p.m. doctor's appointment and a 2:30 p.m. infusion at the hospital this afternoon.
The surgeon went back into my shoulder on July 1st and cleaned out the new shoulder joint he put in and also put a new liner in it. Not that I can explain that, that's just the way it was explained to me.
I have five more weeks of my arm in a sling and probably close to that long of sleeping in the recliner, after the surgery. I don't sleep too well in the recliner and sometimes there's a fair amount of discomfort but God is good, his mercies are new every morning!

Howdy folks. Been a busy few days with the promise of more busy in the coming week. I have an event today, Saturday and Sunday. 3 different events in 3 different towns. Then 3 more next week. Better put some elbow grease on my spiralizer crank motor (my right arm).

Yesterday though I was in Door County with my family. We ate everybody's favorite polish potatoe dumplings, pierogis, at a place called the Pierogi Prince. Then we picked a whole bucket of cherries. There were 4 varieties available, but the dark red made up the majority of our haul. It was pretty toasty, however, so it was difficult to stay out long. The orchard actually offered little shade with the sun high over head, and the lake effect chill was diminished being a few miles inland. It was so sunny it was difficult to see my phone's screen to properly photograph the scene.

Went to the park the day before that with my folks and walked to the top of the light house. David you mentioned light house themed woodburning art once, pondering if it would sell well. In my town every other house has a replica lighthouse proudly displayed in their front yard. There was an economic redevelopment plan for the park, but the citizens rallied behind "Save the lighthouse!" and the plan died. If you could ship me a rail car full of lighthouse pieces, we could live comfortably for a while

Update: event canceled due to severe thunderstorm warnings in the area. Bummed out. Will now stay home and eat cherries. This is a very Wisconsin and diner themed picture...9 gallons of cheese that was hot and ready to go.

Good morning. Nice day ahead for us as far as weather goes. It's supposed to be really hot and muggy this weekend and I plan to do nothing outside. The flooring job is nearly complete, and we won't do any of the trim work until after the cleaning lady gets done with her work and the people that are going to use the cabin for the next couple weeks leave. Then we will spend about a week or two putting down new base and whatever the owner wants done. We still have new plywood and a laminate floor to put down in the utility room that I'm hoping to get done today while the cleaning crew works on the rest of the building. Last night I started seeing occasional little white flashes in the corner of my right eye. I have no idea what causes that and its un-nerving me a little. I looked it up on the internet, and it indicated it isn't that uncommon or serious unless it persists or gets worse, but it still un-nerves me. I have a Deacon meeting tonight and a full day's work so I best get moving Have a good Thursday.______Dave

Dave, have you had cataract surgery? I experience occasionally a little light flash in the corner of my left eye, doesn't bother my vision, internet says it is most likely light reflecting on the edge of the implant.
Yesterday morning it was pretty hot close to noon, after dinner, cloud cover took over and I was able to get the south yard, the east yard, and the small area around the shooting house mowed, still warm but no direct sunlight.
Started the 5 week study about doubt last night at church, quite a few men showed up.
Deer fence project is on today's agenda, probably.

Restless night, so I'm running behind my intended schedule. But I shall prevail ...

Discovered to my delight that at least 3 of 4 birds have survived in the nest under the carport.
Over the weekend, the nest looked as though something had disturbed it, and I saw no movement.
Yesterday I saw 3 tiny beaks bobbing. Maybe the 4th was there, too

Good morning! I’m up and at it this AM. A couple of errands to do before opening the pawnshop. Then a Ducks Unlimited meeting. It is regional meeting for committee members. Hope to get some new ideas for growing our local chapter. The North Iowa chairman resigned last spring due to differences with the direction National was going. If I decide to run my mouth it could get interesting. Seems I am beginning to find my voice as an activist for things I believe. I actually spoke up at a town hall meeting with a candidate for Iowa governor 2 days ago.
Time for a 2nd cup and food.
