Guys and gals,
I am attaching photos of a knife and sheath that came to me in a recent group of knives. My first thought was that it came from Mexico but in trying to organize my thoughts, I decided it might have come from eastern Europe or even Africa. The sheath does have the image of a lion on it. I feel sure that the handle is bone, not ivory.
The only ID is at the ricasso where there is AGM deeply stamped and it might be ACM rather than AGM.
The sheath is tooled leather and it is very stiff, almost brittle, likely from excessive lacquer.
Not recently made but how old might it be is a good question, as well as maker or where did it originate.
I sure will appreciate any thoughts you might have.
Ray

Re: Need Help on This One
I found several knives with the same "ACM" mark. One posting described the knife being shown as being marked "ACM" on one side, and "MEXICO" on the other, they showed the "MEXICO" mark, but they didn't show a picture of the "ACM" logo. So I looked for a posting with a knife that showed both marks, and I found one (below).
No indication of who the maker is.

I found one with a more legible "MEXICO" stamp. The person who posted this one says that it's stamped "1937" on the guard, but didn't show a picture of that stamp.
Man, what is it with people selling knives but not showing pics of all the markings?
Here's one marked "ACM" on one side, and "Mexico" and what appears to be "N Laredo" on the other. There is a Nuevo Laredo in Mexico.

Holy Cow, Killgar! I googled and binged,, I searched eBay and Arizona Customs and found absolutely nothing. Thanks so much for your help on this. I think it is clear that the origin is in Mexico and I will research on that basis.
