Colonial Fishing Knife

This knife took me awhile to finish just because of working nonstop, kids sports, life etc. I decided to make this knife as a retirement gift for a close friend and coworker who recently retired from the PA DOC after 20 years. We started together in 2005 and climbed our way through the ranks both as Officers. Unfortunately I’m still working. I thought this would be easy until I received the knife and realized it had crimped bolsters. I never did it before but I decided to make brass bolsters from bar stock and made the brass liners from a brass door handle reinforcing plate that I grabbed on clearance for $5. I solder the bolsters on which was another first for me. I used black walnut for the scales finished with Danish Oil and used a 20 year service pin to finish it off. I apologize for rambling but like I said this knife had a lot of firsts for me and I’m happy with how it turned out.
