Husqvarna single shot 30-30.
I think from reading its from the 30's or so.
Have to do some tinkering with the extractor since it looks like the previous owner bent itto far in, and it wont hop over the rim.

Picked this up at an estate sale last week. Mossberg Model 190 KA 16 gauge bolt action shotgun. Walnut stock, C-Lect choke, and factory ported barrel. Made between 1955 -1959 as near as I can tell. I took it apart and cleaned it up (it was pretty dirty). Appears to be in good shape with the normal dings and scratches, and the butt pad has turned to stone. My first 16 gauge, so I will have to run by Academy this week and pick up some shells. I'll run a few shells through it at Sporting Clays league this week and see how she shoots.
Of course, I don't know what the heck I'll do with it after that. I needed this like I need another old pocket knife.

Obviously you don’t live in Illinois you would have to have a gun dealer broker the deal.

Those of you who have not seen or already own a Rossi Brawler need to get one. There are 3 calibers available at this time, 45 Colt/410 shotshell, .300 BLK, or the one I have the 5.56mm Nato. It is a single shot break open handgun that comes with a Weaver style mount to accept scopes or red dot sights. I bought the 5.56mm Nato because of the versatility of the choices of ammo it will fire. It will accept factory 5.56mm ammo, 223 Remington factory ammo, and the handloads I make for it to duplicate the velocity of the 22 Hornet or 22 Magnum. The 5.56mm Nato ammo I have fired in mine was Hornady M193 with the 55 fmj and the chronograph read 2620 fps from the 9 inch barrel. It is sold as a truck/survival/hunting/self defense weapon and there is clearly a market for such a piece. It is a blast to shoot and the recoil from the 5.56 is negligible. They run about 3 bills now and my local gun shop had no trouble getting me one in a few days.

Great find Mike. Hope a lot of gun control nuts (I know - that’s redundant) read your post - they’ll go into apoplexy!
OC, I need one of those for a copperhead snake gun. A lot more practical for that than my .45 ACP, or a regular size shotgun.

How long or short the barrel is has no connection to accuracy. After some weather related delays, I was finally able to get sighted in at 50 yards. As the target shows the taped over holes as I was walking the scope adjustment down and to the left, the final 5 shots went in to 3/4 inch @50 yards.1967redrider wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2026 12:33 pmVery interesting, OC. A friend of mine - who I also shoot clays and hunt with - has a "gun show" every 6 months or so. He has a big metal building, and he invites all the guys we hunt and shoot clays with (most are gun club members and gun aficionados) , and they bring all their guns that they want to sell. He cooks, and also some of the wives bring a pot luck item. And bring your own beer. We usually have 25-30 people, and a lot of guns. There are always some interesting guns (especially nice clay shotguns and hunting rifles), good prices, and also a lot of trading happens toward the end of the evening. It's a fun time. Anyway, this little Winchester 67A followed me home. The stock has a few dings and scuffs on it, but I shot a few subsonic .22 shorts through it, and it's a sweet little gun. It was made in the early 1950s, as near as I can tell. I will see if I can steam some dents out and clean up the stock, and it will make a nice first rifle for my grandson in a few years.

When I was about 13 or 14 years old, I found one of those model 67A Winchesters in a pawn shop but the owner would not sell it to me. I cajoled my dad to go in with me and 'we' bought the rifle for $12. My dad loved to do checkering so he checkered the fore end and the pistol grip. I must have killed 500 squirrels with it, well lots of them anyway. I could see really well back then and with that rifle I head shot almost all of them. No meat wasted.Unk wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2026 4:44 pm A friend of mine - who I also shoot clays and hunt with - has a "gun show" every 6 months or so. RayI paid $80 for this one and felt like I stole it. I didn't really need another old .22, but figured it would be a great starter gun for the grandkid (he's not even 2 yet - so it will be a few years down the road.) And I couldn't pass up an old Winchester for that price.

My first rifle was also a 67A. Sold tomatoes for a guy door to door to get the money. I got .05 for each basket I sold. I believe it was $14.35 . It is the shorter barrel and stock youth model. I've shot it a lot over the years. I still have it. Great buy on your part.

Floyd, I've got a 67A youth model around here somewhere. When I got interested in Winchesters I read about the short barrel youth model 22 and I figured it would be a good rifle to search for. Finally found one and made a deal on it. Maybe tomorrow I'll look for it a do a little "show and tell". There are probably 2 or 3 of those old 22s around here, I think one is a model 67, I believe it doesn't have the safety device.doglegg wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2026 12:16 am My first rifle was also a 67A. Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
Well, this is kind of related to guns....
My buddy set up a time to meet over at his house yesterday, and go eat lunch, then he had something planned for us. He wouldn't tell us what it was, so we were a little apprehensive.
We had a nice lunch of barbecue, then headed off to downtown Fort Worth. He had booked us a reservation at a place called Sandlot VR, a virtual reality place. So we put sensors on our ankles, wrists, and choose our weapons. I chose the gatling gun, another friend chose the shotgun, another a pair pistols, and then an AR. The shotgun, pistols, and AR reloaded by pointing them at the ground for a second or two. The gatling gun was good in that it never needed to reload, but not so good in that it had a 2 or 3 second delay after pulling the trigger while it "spun up" before it started firing. We then put on the VR headsets, and the zombie apocalypse was on. When the zombies are coming at you fast, that delay on the gatling gun gets a little too exciting.
I finished up with the highest body count, but with the lowest accuracy (as you would expect with a gatling gun). My buddy won the "Crown" (highest accuracy) with the shotgun. Of course he had played a few times with his family, so he had a little experience / advantage. The pistols and AR did not fare so well. I put a link below where you can watch 2 videos of us. My daughter thought it was funny that the videos cut from all the Virtual Reality action, and then it changes to 4 old gray-haired farts standing around in the rectangle.
I highly recommend doing this - it was a blast, and I plan on taking the family this summer.
Warning! There's a little bad language on the videos!

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
I was looking out my window and noticed a bright red item laying in the dirt under my deck.
I went out to retrieve the item. It turned out to be a snap cap or dummy round for a .40 caliber weapon.
I do not dry fire my weapons, so I never bought or used any snap cap or dummy rounds.
But, now I have one to use on my .40 caliber. So, I think I’ll try it out.

I used some snap caps to let my wife get familiar with the double action on her new .38 Special before we took it to the range. I think she benefitted a little bit from that.New_Windsor_NY wrote: ↑Mon Jul 13, 2026 3:45 pm I was looking out my window and noticed a bright red item laying in the dirt under my deck.
