A local rancher ran over a black bear and the only thing he had to put it out of its misery was a lathing hatch. He boiled the skull and put it on his mantel, hatchet marks included.

As made by Vaughan, the only difference between a lathing hammer and a shingling hammer is they do not drill and tap the three holes for the shingle overlap measuring stud in lathing hammers. Even though dry wall replaced plastering over lathing strips a long time ago Vaughan still sells both. Vaughan will drill and tap the holes in their old lathing hammers.

Bell systems axe. These were issued to linemen for driving pegs, knocking and hacking off cross arms and turning lag bolts. I wouldn't have known but I sat down beside a guy at the tractor show where I found it who worked for hell a long time. There is almost no edge as it was used more for battering and prying.
