NEIL SEDAKA PASSES

Post by Ridgegrass »

Neil Sedaka was a writer and producer of teen music in the early 60's and came back in the late 70's. He was an early member of the TOKENS, who had the mega hit, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". Over 500 songs to his credit. He grew up in Brooklynn NY and, amazingly, across the street from Carole King and Neil Diamond. He was 86 when he passed on Feb. 27th this year. He still had a radio show on Sirius XM and was very active. His music was teeny pop, but my generation went for it because it was good to dance to. They were great years to be a teen, no drugs, and we actually dated live girls! :D R.I.P. Neil. J.O'.

Some of his hits: "Oh Carole", "Happy Birthday Sweet 16", "Calendar Girl".

RIP Mr. Sedaka Very talented singer/songwriter who entertained many late 50's/early 60s teenagers. And yes, his tunes were almost all danceable.

Was never the prototype of a rock and roll singer, but a very talented man who entertained generations of people. A golden voice that won't be forgotten.
