Looking for Information on This Knife

Post by Miller Bro's »

Anyone know where this knife was made and who the maker is?

Only marks are JM and ATS 34.

It's lightweight for the size and very sharp seems like a decent knife ::hmm::

The maker is Jim Matthes. Another knife of his below with similar styling. He lived and worked out of San Diego county (Santee), California. I don't know if he's still alive, but I know that he retired from knifemaking and sold his equipment many years ago.

Thanks for the information!

I had no idea who made it but it was much better quality than you normally see. I looked into the maker and found this information on him on another forum:
So I have been in touch with an older knifemaker located in Santee, California. He is having to sell all of his equipment due to health reasons.
I am not making any money on these items, I just want to help another maker out!

He is best reached by phone as he has bad eyesight and can't answer emails easily.

Here is his # and remember he is on pacific standard time.

Jim Matthes

That was posted in 2012, so I have no idea if he is still around, hopefully he is.

Thanks again ::handshake::
