My latest wharncliffe acquisition.

a matching pair of Barbed Wire Bone Seahorse Whittlers with & without scrolled bolsters.

Kevin, those two Seahorses make a stunning pair The one with scrolled bolsters is especially classy; I could drool over that one for hours

A Browning Steambank Wharncliffe

Your Browning Steambank is a solid little tank of a knife Squach; I know because I used to have one. One cool feature on that knife is the dual nail slots for truly ambidextrous opening like all the AI generated descriptions on eBay claim is true of every knife!

My submission for today is also a Case. I have been buying some Peanuts lately, and I saw this one with a broken main blade, just waiting for some Wharncliffe obsessed fellow to reprofile it.

a similar Parker that I got for a song with a tipped blade and managed to find something akin to a wharncliffe inside it

Nice saves on the Peanuts and Parker, Mel & John Reprofiling a blade to reveal its inner Wharnie is akin to freeing a genie from a bottle or turning an ugly duckling into a graceful swan and it reveals the Wharncliffe Monkey residing in both your hearts

I do not know if you were a Heinlein fan, but this passage which I first read when I was twelve (1965) was my first ever encounter with the phrase monkey on my back. Heinlein's character was referring to his addiction to reading. But his words pretty well describe my relationship with knives.

The truth is, I’ve got a monkey on my back, a habit worse than marijuana though not as expensive as heroin.

That book, Glory Road, was very influential to my ideas about a lot of things: swords, knives, noblesse oblige, sex, the military, and taxes all high on the list. But I am gong off topic here.

I have a love/hate relationship with the various knife Monkeys on my back. And while it's true their mischievous shenanigans and absolute lack of self-control have led me to to the brink of financial ruin more times than I care to admit, truth be told, I would not have acquired the collection I have without their constant influence. Whenever I actually practice self control, discipline, or financial responsibility and hesitate to buy a knife I want, the Monkey(s) will screech things in my ear like YOLO and FOMO and TITLOYES (this is the last one you'll ever see) and I invariably give in The one good thing about having the Monkey is he provides me with a scapegoat for my weakness, i.e., someone else to blame, for my impulse purchases "I didn't spend $500 on knives this month, it was that dadburn Monkey....again!"

Fellows, I am out of Wharncliffes and having to recycle knives that I have posted previously. My contribution is a pair of knives that I reprofiled because they were broken, and an old Henry Sears that someone just sharpened too much.

Mel, I suspect I'm probably the only one who re-reads this entire thread every Wednesday because I can't remember which of my Wharnies I've already shown, so I can assure you that I definitely don't remember those shown by everyone else But even if I could remember them all, I'd still enjoy seeing them again and yours are no exception. Plus, your photography is always interesting, as well

Speaking of repeats...I'm out of new patterns to show; all the Wharnies I have left are just different handle variations of patterns I have previously shown. So, I'll show my final few archive pics first for variety.....
