Why not?
I asked if we might try a Kabar Forum and here it is! I know a lot of folks love the old Dog's Heads and from those early days of Union Cutlery to today, they remain popular. My reason for asking for a Kabar Forum is because of all the old slip-joints I see. They've held up well. Here's one I posted on another thread, but it's an oldie that needed restored with new Christmas Tree scales and a bit of clean up.

Nice knife.
I have one Kabar. I can't remember when I got it, but it is a 4 blade camp type knife. I haven't been able to find any information on it. Once I get things together I am goig to take some pictures of my inventory.

Good job Bob! Kathy and I were just talking about starting a Ka-Bar picture thread, but this is much better!

A couple of real beauties Bret! I'm not sure I could pick a favorite either. Let's call it a tie.

They are both my favorite. Is the second one the size of a Remington 1123?Bret888 wrote:I can't decide which of these 2 is my favorite.
Nice knives I have one like the first with the folding guard.

Stockman, yes it is the same as an 1123. I have a sad old 1123, and the handle scales and tang stamps are the only visible difference.

This is my one and only Kabar. I can't remember when I got it or how old it is. I'm thinking late 70's early 80's. I just dug it out of an old tool box and have some upkeep to do. The photo leaves a lot to be desired.

Re: Why not?
My collection is a bit lean on the Kabars but here is one I do have.
No tang stamp but has a faint blade etch that says "Ka-Bar" over 479 USA.
Wooden handled lockback 5 5/8 in. closed length.

Dog Head, was rubbing a pencil lead on some spots. I’ve had this knife for years, maybe it has been posted earlier. Harold

Re: Why not?
I've got several Kabars but have never landed one of the beautiful ones with the dog head.
Stockman, that's a fine one!

Re: Why not?
Thanks! Not sure how much use it has seen. It has signs of having had some patina. It’s been lightly buffed but the blade and fork are 99+% full. The spoon is not the same metal, or possibly plated, with no sign of tarnish or use. I’m happy to be its current caretaker!
