I find the Harrison Ford and Suzanne Sommers characters interesting. And Ron Howard, of course.

I heard that the reason Elton John wears glasses is because when he was a youth, his idol was Buddy Holly.
So, trying to be like his eye-glass wearing idol he started wearing glasses. However they were not the right prescription and he damaged his eyesight and then HAD to wear glasses.

I'm not sure I have this 100% right, but I think that scene was filmed at an intersection in Petaluma, CA and there is a marker there today. I know this only because my son lives there.
