What Is This Robeson Shuredge? Not A Knifei

I bought this in a lot of knives at auction, and I've never seen anything like it. But I figure someone here will know what it is.

It looks like a small one-blade pocket knife, but the one bladed is more like a spatula. It is rounded on the end and very thin and flexible.

Is it rare?

Pretty sure that's exactly what it is--the kind artists use. At one point, several "knife" companies made something like this.

It is indeed an artist spatula. Don’t see them every day but not particularly “rare” either. Besides Robeson, Miller Brothers, Russell, and some others also made artists spatula knives. There are usually a few for sale on eBay at any given time.

Spatula blades are often found on physician’s knife patterns also, originally for mixing/compounding medicines and sorting pills. Those spatula blades are thicker/stiffer however.

Proper name for the artist's version is called a "palette knife".

Although I have never seen that pattern before, I’m sure it’s legitimate. Robeson produced a wide variety of patterns over a great many years.
