myrtlefaye and 1959brett reported.

Post by peterforce »

just a heads up that even with all the complaints and listings i have sent to ebay
none of it really mattered.

today i was actually on the phone with a supervisor getting my ebay bucks
taken care of.anyway during that time they asked if their was anything else they could do
and i asked if i could report fake knife sellers.

so instead of just a turned in auction or getting a customers money back,
myrtlefaye and 1959brett have actually been logged with ebay as selling fake products
which according to the lady i spoke to no "offcial " report had been filed.this report
needs to be filed to start any removal procedure.once again per the lady at ebay.

anyway if you have the EYE for it and can prove an auction is fake
if you take the time to call it in and explain it will only take a few on these
phone reports and a little luck they should get booted!!!

::barf:: just a heads up on two of the top worse ::barf::

Pete,

I am proud of you. ::tu:: I have been in regular contact with Jack Maupin (myrtlefaye) and just about had him convinced to do an interview with me for Knife World. I was going to call it (entering the belly of the Beast) but for the last two weeks he has decided to not respond. He had been doing well and I sent him a list of questions. Once he got that, NO RESPONSE ::shrug:: ::shrug:: ::shrug::

I really had hoped to learn more about his knives so the truth could be told. Guess now that will never happen, but then what will happen to the knives? ::dang::

Nice intentions Pete; but I have a little experience with fake sellers and eBay. IMO it will do nothing to get these sellers booted from eBay. With the thousands of people that sell knives on eBay; for all they know we are all selling fakes. Their main concern is the fees that they collect; try not paying them on time and see how fast you get blocked.

I bought a supposedly vintage Bridgeport knife; from a seller named "Showtime". After getting nowhere with the seller; I filed a complaint with eBay for a fake item. According to eBay; I had to get 2 expert appraisers opinions; that the knife was fake and forward to them on the appraisers letterhead. The only result was getting my money back from paypal; no action taken against the seller; other than my feedback.

myrtlefaye and 1959 brett have sold a whole lot of knives over the years; with eBay collecting the fees; when all is said and done eBay could give a rats @$$ about a few complaints. One of the worst offenders was "Damascus Dude"; he's not there anymore; but I don't think eBay banned him.

I know of sellers being booted off fleabay, and then they came back under a new account. Some have did this several times.

BR, I know that happens a lot on eBay. ::doh:: People have been scamming and counterfeiting since Adam and Eve. Some of the ancient Egyptian artifacts; are counterfeits from thousands of years ago:  you can't get rid of these guys. ::shrug::

I might be mistaken, but I think that 1959Brett is on at least his second user name. It seems to me he changed about a year ago.

i use to have a series of steps for helping
someone get their money back. i have said it a few times
that remember when you get your money back
that money is coming from the seller!! THAT IS A WIN!!!
besides complete shutdown their is no way better to
hurt these thieves then their wallets!!!

anyway ebay has now made their job even easier.

ebay has always had the rule that any form of left
feedback is considered to be the finalizing of the transaction.
please keep this in mind.{if this has changed or if i am wrong please let me know}

what has ebay gone and done??? made it so you can only see the bidders name
after feedback is left.this has now made it so they keep fees from
fake items and dont have to deal with refunds or anything else becuase feedback
has been left.

here is where is still make progress though. take a look at
the feedback of our fake knife makers. you will start seeing less and less of the
repeat business.its becuase i have decided to go after more of the heavier buyers
one by one.some of these big buyers though are deep in myrtles pocket
and refuse to even begin to think that the 50 knives they own are fakes. :x
thats a tough one! ::tear::

HURT THEIR POCKETS AND YOU HURT THEM. A REFUNDED SALE IS A SUCCESS!!!

i have also said to remember these fake knife makers threaten the value of
our collections.they hurt the value of our good hobby!!
therefore they effect all of us!

hey sorry for ranting.just cant stand these thieves.
i dont know how they can do what they do.just take folks hard earned money
the way they do.i just dont get it. ::shrug::

HEY HEY HEY!!!!!!!!

i dont know what it is. maybe ill write one of them.

if you look BOTH myrtlefaye and 1959brett neither have auctions up.

after seeing gar's post with 1959brett i figured i check myrtlefaye as well.

anyway here ya go
http://shop.ebay.com/myrtlefaye/m.html? ... m=&_ipg=25

here is the thing.the accounts are still active.

like it was said earlier in the post with the money these guys make for EBAY
obviously EBAY is gonna really look into it before they just close their accounts.
their accouts may be open and ebay has asked them to please hold off on
selling while they look into matters.

if they are both just on selling breaks then oh well.

i can only wish that me reporting them verbally has something to do with it.

even if they get their accounts back.like i said anytime you can hurt a thiefs
pockets you have hurt them the most!!! ::tu::

It's in their best interest to allow scmalot on fleabay. I find it much more useful to check here and not bid; not that I bid much on fleabay. I have too many people needing my income to feed and house them at home to do much buying: not including the one's on the guvmint tit who just steal my income.EOR; Greg

hey hey hey!!!! UPDATE!!!

here is how it stands so far.

11-25-2009 is when i reported both of these thieves.
i have looked through completed sales and feedback as well for both.
neither have any completed sales{crimes} within the last 30 days.
also when i checked feedback the last sale for both was in the end of November.
they both have feedback left in December but the auctions ended in November.

i didnt check myrtlefaye but i did check 1959brett recent buys and he has bought a few
older busted up knives that im sure he is working or having worked as we speak.they could already have new names and could possibly be up and running.

once again if i have stopped them from ripping someone of even for a day
then its not time wasted. THIS IS A WIN!!!

the accounts arent closed and liike i said 1959brett is using his to buy some oldies.
basically he is getting ready to start ripping folks of again or is already
and i havent found him.

please drop me a PM or note on this post with any suspected auctions that you may
think is one of these two thieves.i am keeping track of 1959brett purchases and i search them
every few days.

once again a giant thank you to those who contribute to the counterfeit section.
im far from a knife expert and rely on alot of you great fellaz here to spot fakes. ::tu::

I know eric has already pointed this out and luckypaul has agreed, but, just to confirm, brettsknives is not 1959brett reincarnated. Brettsknives has been around quite awhile, I have bought a few knives from him and been very happy with them. Sorry for being a couple of weeks late with this post but I haven't read this thread for awhile.
