leather dye?

I have a Buck 110 and Schrade black leather sheaths missing a few spots of the dye to just the material. What is the best way to touch them up? I have black acrylic paint or lady's fingernail polish and not shoe or leather dye. Thanks

the simplest way without getting into leather dye is black shoe polish

Agree with the shoe polish. I do wonder why its missing. Maybe it has somwthing on it that blocked the dye originally. Shoot us a picture maybe we can tell more.

I’ve seen NIB Bucks with sheaths that are poorly dyed around the belt loop where it meets the sheath. My guess is that missing=never dyed and he’s looking to fill-in where Buck missed.

Makes sense. I know if glue got on it prior to dye it can block it as well.

It's pretty hard to get glue off leather and then get the leather to take the dye. If that's the cause of the problem, even leather dye is not very effective dying leather that has glue spots on it. A good leather prep might remove enough glue so that the leather would take some dye, but even that's not a guarantee. Your best bet may well be a black Sharpie, or India ink, if you have some handy.

These are from being worn for years and the black rubbed off the outside of the sheath surface.
