Moore Maker 3206

I picked up my first Moore Maker knife last week in the AAPK POS knife exchange. It is what I will call a jumbo trapper 4 and 1/4 inches OAL closed. It has a advertiser message embossed onto the mark side handle material as shown. I am not sure how this was done, by laser, by engraving, etching or other means. The lettering is just deep enough to catch the finger nail on and as shown in the photo, it was not done properly and the end of the word on line one went into the shield. My first impression was that I would rehandle the knife, but "after further review" I might try to sand off the lettering as it is on the thickest part of the handle. Anyway I think it is a great knife. Thanks Cody!!!.

I agree, sanding it should work fine. I have had a couple of those knives, and they are hefty! I have seen boxes of them at the Bear & Son factory that were missing shields, so you might pop that out, sand the handle, then epoxy the shield back. Just a thought.

I suspect that your knife was not sold to the original customer that ordered the knife engraved. Rather, it probably failed MM's quality check as was sold on their site as "mis-engraved" at a nice discount price.

I have that MM pattern with the same covers in my carry rotation, and I'm quite happy with the fit and finish of the knife and it came shaving sharp. I did add a paracord lanyard of about 3.5-inches to help land the knife in my pocket and to help with extraction of the knife from the pocket.

I suspect that you'll enjoy that knife with just a little use.

Thanks, that is what I will do. It does have some weight to it and the blades are large, will be a great EDC.

Yes, I do plan on carrying it and will likely also add a paracord lanyard to it. It will make a great EDC.

I started it with 80 grit and worked thru the numbers to 1500 and then some polish and now it looks presentable. It was surprising how deep the lettering was sunken and thus the amount of work to remove it. Its my EDC now.

I agree, you did a great job on it! You'd never know to look at it that it used to have words engraved on it.
We have come to expect great knife repairs from you, OC, and you do not disappoint!

Looks a million times better without that "Random Guy's" name on it as I used to say when I had it.

PS: I too had a small loop of paracord through the tube when I used it. Mostly to keep me from dropping it.


Need to keep this in mind when dealing with personal marks like this I don't want--company logos--anything goes. Personalization, no.
