A Quick Hello

I just found this site while lurking the net for things knife related. I have accumulated some knives over the years, but until recently never realized that the vast majority are folders. I am archaic by nature, so I gravitate toward more traditional items, friction folders, slip joints, etc.. I am a, to-each-their-own, guy as far as knives go. However, several of the more frequented knife sites seem to have a bias toward super-steels, the latest and greatest handle materials, etc., and many folks seems to get pretty “animated” regarding their chosen proclivities. I like to keep it simple, like Opinel simple, and Sodbuster simple. I look at knives as tools. Consequently, I personally shy away from spending hundreds on things that should be getting used, sometimes hard. If it breaks, throw it away (or fix it), and move on to the next one. So, I’m hoping that things are relatively “simple” here. Simple makes me happy, or at least doesn’t rile me up. “Doc”

Yes, the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid. Knives are work implements and anyone who mentions Sodbusters is more then welcome.

You'll find there are a few old fellers on the forum that still enjoy the traditional knives, a few of us don't care too much for the "zombie killer" knives with all the weird shapes and colors.
I too found this forum several years ago and have found there was a lot more to pocket knives than I ever dreamed. I'm guilty of owning too many that will probably never be used by me, seems like I'm stuck on 4 knives, a Tony Bose Case for Sunday go to meetin' knife, a Queen trapper for my goin' to town or doctor knife, my Queen stockman for everyday use around the place along with a piece of an old SOG Flash II that gets highly abused cutting and scraping stuff that my "delicate" Queens aren't allowed to touch.
