Case autos

I've been thinking of this for awhile and would like to hear other opinions,do you think case will make autos again like they used to.I would be very interested if they did,I'm surprised they haven't yet. Would love to buy a new 1 or2.

Entirely possible now that the Pennsylvania legislature repealed the state law that forbid manufacturing them. Call Case and tell them you're interested.

I know pa. passed a law making them legal but how did gec make the schrade autos back in 2010.Were those made in the titusville plant or somewhere else.

I have no idea where they were made. The two companies have entirely different business models. If Case tools up to make a pattern they make it by the thousands. GEC on the other hand makes small runs of a few hundred at a time. Maybe those GEC runs were “under the radar” of the legal watchdogs, whereas if Case made thousands of them it would likely attract attention.

If Case is going to make autos they’ll be stepping into a competitive situation where several successful makers already have established market share. I bet their marketing team has surveyed the landscape. If they step in, do they enter the nostalgic “traditional” types from their past, the “stiletto” types like the Italians make, or the modern tacticool side where they’d compete with established companies like MicroTech etc? High end, low end……….? Tough market to get into regardless, and a lot of design and tooling expense that has to be recouped.

Speculation on a knife forum is interesting. To get real answers, thankfully both Case and GEC companies are still in business and answering their phones.

Lots of autos made in states that don’t allow them, they can’t sell them there or possess them in that state I believe.

Limited edition recreations would be the only way to go unless you want to compete with modern tactical makers. An authentic Case lever action or button trigger pattern expensive enough to justify both the labor and parts would be a collectable worthy of investor attention and speculation.

The GRC/ Schrade switchblades were made in Titusville for law enforcement/ military sale only.....supposedly.
