Questions about Marbles Ideal knife

Post by knifeaholic »

Can anyone provide an age and potential value of this knife? Marbles Ideal with a 7 inch blade. I know very little about Marbles knives, but I thought the hexagonal pommel was unusual.

Steve I'm not a Marble's expert either but I THINK that's the Longhorn model circa 1960's-ish. I could be completely wrong on that though so I'd wait for the experts to confirm. I only know that much because I had a printing block with that knife on it and did a little bit of research to see which model it was.

Thanks Eric, very interesting!! I did not picture the sheath, but the sheath has a longhorn steer head embossed on it. Since the sheath has no Marbles logo, I assumed that it was a replacement. However that would fit 100% with your idea and the sheath would be original.

Definitely a Longhorn Steve. Like the original Ideals, the stag handled ones are worth more than the leather or wood ones.
