2012 Case Tec X Line

Just did a little search to see if these Tec-X knives were even still being made, I read/hear nothing recently about them. Confirmed that Case is still having them cranked out but it doesn't seem like anyone on AAPK has posted any. SMKW sells them, mostly with Harley Davidson marketing.

Several years later, do you think these will ever be collectible or are they just fading into the sunset?

I don’t think Case ever even thought about TecX ever being collectible. It’s about market share. If those 20-somethings are gonna buy a knife it’s likely to be an inexpensive tactical “flipper”. They don’t care who made it or where. They just want it to cut, and look “cool”, which means whatever their peers think is “in”. And they’ll carry it for a month or two, sell or trade it to somebody, and buy another one like it but maybe a different color. JMO based on my great-nephews and who I see from looking at customers around sellers of such knives at flea markets and trade days.

If you’re Case you can either stand on “Made in USA” principles (which they do a pretty good job of IMHO) and lose more market share, or find some way to get a foot into a market (cheap tacticals) which you are not playing in. TecX is not for me. I have no interest in them. But I don’t blame Case for contracting somebody to make them.

I'm surprised no AAPK members have posted any pictures of them, at least ones that are searchable using "Case Tec-X."

Truthfully, I kind of forgot about them.

Need to get some photos up of my Inceptra-T. I use it a lot, and it performs quite well. And the only reason it is in my collection was that I got the normally $30 knife on sale for eight dollars because the model was discontinued; and the steel is supposedly AUS-8, not 8Cr13MOV.

Here’s the one I just got for EDC. Made in China, 2018. I like it, country of manufacture notwithstanding. Well built, lightweight, inexpensive and does everything I need an EDC to do. I even like how it looks

Good looking knife ~Q~. Looks slim and sleek like it rides in the pocket real nice.

Where does the time go? It doesn’t seem that long ago when Case first announced these. Time be a flyin’.

I'd never seen this thread, and I don't know that ever saw one of these knives till this old thread was revived. I went back to the first post and boy did some folks get their drawers in a twist.

Not 100% sure of the year, but I bought two small tec X Harley Davidson labeled knives.
