The only thing I see being made currently is the Big Chief with the aluminum handle that Queen made.

And it's really more of a reskinned Daddy Barlow as it has none of the same construction methods. The Big Chief from Queen has 3 parts (5 if it's got a bail)--handle/frame (which is specially designed to also serve as the other two pins due to how the backspring slots inside), blade, and pivot pin. The SMKW China version (based on the later production #45EO) has two pins, a screw pivot, two separate handles, the backspring, bail, bail pin, and blade; a total of ten parts--double what my USA #45EO w/bail has.

Edit: Appears to be a knife still being made, stamped Manchester OH and USA, doesn’t say anything about China on it but for the price would almost have to be.

Further edit: Seller is none other than Gilbert from above, so I’ve reached out to him for more details.

So my knife arrived, shrouded in some (perhaps an appropriate) level of mystery. When I reached out, Gil told me it was made by Bluegrass about 15 years ago. He wasn’t sure of the country of origin. It is stamped USA. That’s about all we know about it. It’s beefier than I expected, nice handles, some grit from storage. Blades look stainless to me.

This was a sentimental buy for me, hits a lot of buttons, so mission accomplished in any case. After reading as much of the history as I could, I’m just kind of going to enjoy the remaining mystery.

Looks like a USA made knife to me, from the tang stamps. I don't think that I've seen a Scott Cut Co knife before.
I was never a fan of the multi-colored layered wood handles, but only because several import companies used that on cheaper knives back in the 80's. That's on me, not the knife.

It’s my first time with Pakkawood … I actually had to go read about it. It’s not something I’d have sought out, but up close it doesn’t look bad and should be durable, anyway!

Gil apparently has at least a few more of them if anyone’s interested.

I went to the website most of the knives are unavailable, and the facebook page has not been updated since 2016.
was kind of surprised to see that with that ad in magazine.
They have a picture of some Damascus knives that look great.
I may try the email.
