Hard to find Imperial?

Post by Don L59 »

Change a blade. It took me forever to find a complete kit with all the blades. This one is “mint”. Who else has one of these Imperial change a blades? I wonder if they came with different scale choices.

They came with black plastic handles simulating jigged bone. They also had spear point blades. Do a search for tool kit knives here and you will find many differen ones.

Mine appears to be similar to yours with the exception of having black jigged handles and having a wood chisel (lower left) instead of the saw blade. What about the tang stamp on yours, mine is Imperial Prov. and has the USA running horizontal? I see these occasionally at gunshows and flea markets in our area, but they frequently have deteriorating and cracked plastic cases, and missing components. Sometimes they have advertising printed on the outside of the cases.

Mine has imperial province R.I. With the USA running vertical your set is also in nice shape. Do you mind me asking what you paid for yours?

It has been quite a few years ago, I think it was $10 at a flea market.

I have 2 Imperial sets.
This one is Jeep branded (case only, not the blades).

A bunch of nice old Imperials here. I never knew Imperial made such a set.

Interesting to note that of all the sets shown, yours is the only one with a saw blade, or is it a fish scaler?

It is a scaler with a hook disgorger on the tip.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Here’s the imperial set I have. Tang stamps chart says c 1946-1956. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... al#p386804

Also have a Utica set somewhere, but IIRC it has a tool or two missing.

Wayne is correct. It’s a fish scaler.
