NCCA show Saturday and Sunday

Post by Gunsil »

I know I'm late posting this but the Northeast Cutlery Collectors Association two day show will be held this coming weekend March 7&8th at the Hilton Hotel in Mystic, CT. This is a pretty big show with a good mix of custom and antique knives for sale or trade. I will have a couple tables of antique folders and fixed blades for sale and Barry (1fartsmella) will have some of his antique knives with me. Please stop by and say hello!

If I can find you I'll definitely stop by to say hi. This will be my first time attending the Mystic show. I'll be there both days. Shopping and admiring shiny things and hopefully making new friends. Would love to meet some fellow members!

Wish I could check it out, Gene, it sounds like a good show. We can chat about it in a month. 😉
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

I hope I can get to meet you...I'm from Hudson, Mass. Always look forward to meeting local collectors. I'll be there but I won't have a table.

Gene; any idea what time dealer set up starts on Friday? I don't have a table but since I am a life member I can get in to shop during set up.

Until late last week, I thought I would have to pass completely on the show this year - I slipped on ice and fractured my elbow on Jan 30th. So no driving. But got approval from the physical therapist to go back to normal including driving.

Hi Steve, so sorry to hear you broke your elbow! Must have been excruciating! I think dealer set up is at 6PM Friday. As usual during dinner time.

Joe, I will have a lot of fixed blades and some pocket knives, all antiques. I don't know what room I'll be in (show usually was in two rooms) or where my tables are until Friday night. Usually about 10 AAPK members attend this show.

I won't make it this year, but I'll make it there someday for sure. If i can turn it into a mini New England trip with the wife, I bet I could make it pan out so that everyone's happy. :D

Thanks Gene. Actually it was not real painful but the swelling was hard to deal with. Could not drive for a month. Looking forward to seeing you and others at the show!

Rookie, they moved it to March which isn't great for a couple of reasons. Mystic is a great place for family visits because there is the Mystic Seaport Museum complex which is huge but better in warmer weather. There is also the Mystic Aquarium which is great for families and downtown Mystic is full of boutiques and nice shops which women really enjoy. Come on next year and enjoy the town and the knife show!

I second the motion.

The show is in my region, and I am a member of the NCCA, but on account of recent hip replacement surgery, I cannot make it to the two-day Mystic (“Annual Extravaganza”) Show this year.

Do tell me all that I missed.

Make it hurt.

Here are a few photos from Mystic from about 3:00 PM on Saturday. It was much more crowded in the morning, to the point where it was often hard to move through the aisles.

Good to hear about the attendance being good, at least in the a.m.(I know of two other concurrent shows in New England that may have drawn off some potential attendees); and thank you.
