knife maker

Post by just bob »

In an on-line auction near me. Anyone recognize the knife or the maker? John *****luce or duce and I think the 1993 is clear enough. Knife is in central Indiana, but that doesn't mean much.

Assembly with a round head bolt and no tang screams home made using scrap steel for a blade. The bolt hole's location that close to the end of the handle makes me suspect that it was drilled by the maker which required the blade to be soft enough to drill. However, he or she might have used part of a saw blade that had a pre-existing hole in that spot. I can not think of such a blade. It is also possible that they reheat treated it after drilling. I would not bet my knife money on it having an appropriately hard blade. The stag is nice but don't bid it up to Case prices.
