It’s Trapper Tuesday

This trapper came to me sometime in the late '80s:

Case Trapper '84 New Grind with extensive file work

The file work created an unintentional stop, non a half stop but maybe a 135° stop or maybe a 3/4 stop. When I first got this knife I posted about the odd half stop and Steve Pfeiffer aka knifeaholic responded by say Case never made a 6254 with stops. The file work is on the spines of the blades as well as both side of the springs, inside the well and on the back.

Wow! I’ve got the Rough Ryder 30th Anniversary knife that’s 8” closed. You don’t really understand just how big that size is till you see it in person!

I went to a gun show last weekend and found this little beauty there, 285UH, Schrade Walden with carbon steel blades. Made with through pin construction and not the Swinden system, which makes me wonder just a tad as to when it was made?

It's not a safe queen, it has seen little bit of use, but I'm happy to have it!

Very nice T.F. ... I always thought that Farmers didn't care for travelling salesmen... at least farmers with young beautiful daughters .... at least that is what I remember hearing about salesmen and farmer's daughters....

That is a good question Q.
I have not seen many Uncle Henry's with milled or coined liners.
I suspect that was done on only a few patterns when they were introduced. I'm pretty sure that was not continued in subsequent years production. I have seen it mostly in the 1950s and early 1960s. This is the only Uncle Henry I recall having with coined liners. The earliest folder in the Uncle Henry line was the 897UH. If a person could find an 897UH from the first release, you might find that it also had coined liners. I believe the 897 and 285 are the only two pocketknives in the Uncle Henry series that were made in the 1960s. I would be surprised to find coined liners on any Uncle Henry made after the name change in 1973.
But hey, nothing about Schrade was carved in stone, they did what they wanted to do, they made knives!

Here are a couple Schatt 51s from the Big Island Mini-T Master himself. And as my Mini-T mentor has always said; "These Queen made Schatt & Morgan 51s are arguably some of the nicest Mini-Ts ever made".

Here are a couple Schatt 51s from the Big Island Mini-T Master himself. And as my Mini-T mentor has always said; "These Queen made Schatt & Morgan 51s are arguably some of the nicest Mini-Ts ever made".

Great looking M.T. s .The pearl is especially nice .The groves on boasters are old school .It also appears like the secondary blades are pens following the old original English style blade configuration that trappers originated from .Your Mini Trapper mentor was spot on .The 51s are sweet !
