Knife Repair

The Cattaraugus Cutlery Company was started by John Champlin and his son Tint in 1882. It was first incorporated under the name J.B.F. Champlin and Son as a wholesale distribution company based in Little Valley, New York. The business proved to be a successful endeavor, and it soon branched into a knife production company named Cattaraugus.

Knife Repair

Post by QHoss61 »

Hello all, first let me say I’m bran new to this forum and I’m a fairly new collector. I’m loving this site ! I have a nice Cattaraugus king of the woods with a broken main spring I’d like to get repaired. Does anyone know of a shop that does quality repairs ? I would love to get it fixed . Thankyou for your help .

Welcome to AAPK.

Finding a spring for a Catt King of the Woods is a tough order! Hopefully someone here has a spring to fit it - some knife mechanics have a lot of salvaged parts. Otherwise unless you can find a donor knife that has a usable spring you will likely have to find a repairman who can fabricate a new spring for it. Recommend you look through the posts in this Knife Repair thread https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... m.php?f=37, find someone (or several someones) who does spring replacement and send them PM or email explaining the work you want done. (Click on their member name for contact info). Then proceed from there.

In my experience if you wait for someone to contact you, you’ll have a loooong wait. Maybe someone will see your request and respond, but good knife mechanics typically have a backlog of work and don’t need to chase more, so taking the initiative to contact them will get faster results. ::handshake::
