Lest you guys dealing with heavy winter weather erroneously believe that Hawaii is immune from weather related issues of its own, notice the big waves in the background of these pics I took of my CRKT Ripple this morning. That’s what happens when we get strong winds blowing across the bay in winter. There were rocks and debris washed up on the road in front of my house and huge puddles in every depression on my Sunday morning village stroll. Nevertheless, I’ll take high surf over snow and ice and freezing temperatures any (and every) day of the week!!

Re: Knife Photography
I'll trade this ice for a salt breeze and some high waves! I don't mind the snow, it can be a lot of fun but you add a solid 3 - 4 inch sheet of ice on top of the snow and it ain't fun any more. I grew up in Phoenix and we had a unique attitude about snow, if you wanted snow you took a one - two hour drive north and there was all the snow you could want. When you were tired of the snow you drove an hour or two back south and basked in the sun.QTCut5 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 7:31 pm Lest you guys dealing with heavy winter weather erroneously believe that Hawaii is immune from weather related issues of its own, notice the big waves in the background of these pics I took of my CRKT Ripple this morning. Tough looking Bugouts, Jtx.
Q - I always suspected that living in a island paradise would have it drawbacks. I hope you did not get any salt spray on your camera from that ugly surf! Very good photos.
Nice stuff from the archive, Charlie. I wondered how you were fairing in the midst of the bomb cyclone. No snow or sleet in my area. The temps have been a bit low.
