Okay, I'll bite.
Which one came in today?
And which expectations did it surpass?
Inquiring mimes wanna know...
Certainly looks (both) > than my Chiner built
Benchmade tanto (tricked again) but probably
barely < my Schwadie USA SW7S all things considered.
(cost, performance, ergonomics, maintenance, expendability....)

oops, i put alot more info down, didn't post it for some reason?

The top one is my old one, Smith & Wesson Military & Police (swmp1b) 1st generation Black

The bottom on is new Smith & Wesson Military & Police (swmp4L) 2nd Gen. Large version

Both with the M.A.G.I.C assisted opening mechanisms. Not considered automatic, means they're completely legal to carry.

The new one feels like a tank compared to the old one, it's very sturdy, it is larger, but everything is very tight, the old one the blade had some play, and the assist went to pot 1.5years after alot of abuse, drops, sand, dirt, gravel, washing machine rides. (being sent in for lifetime warranty repair)

I believe the new ones have a more heavy duty opener, which it feels like it does.

Thanks for the info, I kind of figured the lower one was the newbie but you know what they say about assuming.
Looks like they maximize the resemblance to S&W firearm receiver.
Always nice when you can exclaim Oh yeah! after opening a new knife instead of ewww yuk!
