Did I come accross a diamond?

Post by GitRdone2x »

Hello all, not really a knife "collector" per se but I do enjoy a multitude of different knives. I recently came accross a Remington knife set that I got for a steal. They appear to never have been used or carried. Ive tried finding the set online but have not been able to find anything even remotely close. Has anyone seen something like this? Thanks in advance for the replies

::welcome:: GitRdone! Most or all of those are reproduction knives made by Camillus Cutlery under contract for Remington starting in 1982 with mostly synthetic scales. I'm pretty sure this set was pieced together from these knives from the 80s and 90s and didn't originally come as a set. You can check eBay sold listings for "Remington knife 19XX" checking each year from the mid 80s and you will probably see most of them and what they sold for. I would guess they are worth an average of around $50 a piece +/-. A couple of them may be worth a little more. Hope this helps.

The case itself is worth more than what you paid I'd wager. Brand specific storage and display pieces aren't always easy to find.

That's my Etsy store where I sell old knives and sometimes handmade knife accessories to support my knife habbit. Thanks for looking my friend. ::tu::

That may not be a diamond... but it certainly is nice.
I'm a huge fan of the Remington / Camillus knives.
I'd wager that the knife roll was a salesman's tool to display ALL the knives in a particular line. (I could be wrong, and I was once before, but that was a Tuesday)

I have a roll like that. I don’t know what they were originally, don’t think they were for a salesman samples. The quality is not like sample rolls I’ve seen. Still neat to have. Harold

::handshake:: Welcome to AAPK. Stick around, this place is very educational. Your "set" may not be as valuable as you though/hoped and that is not unusual in the world of knife collecting. However, it is very cool and your cash outlay was excellent. Any one of the knives in that roll is worth what, probably more than you paid for all of them. Great score, and thanks for posting. You've made many AAPK members jealous 🤣
