Single Blade Electrician’s Knife

The Cattaraugus Cutlery Company was started by John Champlin and his son Tint in 1882. It was first incorporated under the name J.B.F. Champlin and Son as a wholesale distribution company based in Little Valley, New York. The business proved to be a successful endeavor, and it soon branched into a knife production company named Cattaraugus.

Single Blade Electrician’s Knife

Post by CarMan »

Do any of you Catt gurus know if Cattaraugus made a single blade electrician’s knife like in the picture. I may have a chance to get this, but can’t find any info on a single blade version.
Thank you in advance,
John

Never seen one. I do have a UNION/KA BAR single, screwdriver only. Here's a catalog pic of the two blade Catt, #21087. Yours should be a 11087 if it has a number. It looks like it hasn't been altered. Good luck with it and let us know what you find. Happy New Year, J.O'.

Yes, I have one.
If you don’t mind me asking, is there a model number on the back of the blade tang please?

Well, I decided that I liked it-A LOT. There’s no model number on the blade & the liner lock says “Patented/July 3 1906.” Not sure if the blade is a hair short or not. It has a pretty good tang stamp. The only issue on the scales is the tiny imperfection in the last picture. I put several pictures since there doesn’t seem to be a lot on these single blade versions, hopefully it will help someone else out.

Well I got it & I do like it a lot. I added pics to this thread. Mine doesn’t have a model number on it, but I am assuming from what you said that it’s a #11087. I don’t know when Catt started putting model numbers on there knives.

I have never seen a single blade electricians knife either. Is the blade sharpened the full length like a knife blade would be?

I never even thought of that, but something tells me they would take it, well I would miss my flight before they would take it.

Mine is sharpened the full length, but not 100% sure that it came that way from the factory. It looks like it came that way, but I’m not the greatest at seeing everything.
