Late Remington Damascus Bullet knifes

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Late Remington Damascus Bullet knifes

Post by WKBurns »

I have a large collection of late bullet knives. Essentially almost all of them from 1982 to 20026. However I have never found a comprehensive list of all of them. My question is from around 1997 and onward there were Damascus knives made as well but I’m not sure if they made them every year up until 2017 or not. Sometimes some years had more than one handle material or sometimes the bolsters were engraved on some and not others.
Does anyone know if they made Damascus blade bullet knives in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2011, or 2012
Also did they make a silver bullet non Damascus edition in 2001?

If anyone has any of these knives I’d love to know and possibly see a picture for reference. I have scoured the internet but have found nothing on knives from these years.
Thanks for any help!

No.

The best list of Modern Remington Bullet Knives I've seen our member vit213 assembled on his Russian website. Here's a link to it: https://vit213.narod.ru/remington/bullet.html

Only Camillus duplicated the shape and size of the parts in pre-WWII Remington Bullet Knives so in my eye Remington Bullet Knives that other companies made by rebranding their standard patterns after Camillus closed are not reproductions. They do not interest me. It's likely another member will be able to answer your questions about newer knives.

There were many more than in his list. I used that to start my collection. I have a lot of the originals as well. I need a couple styles of those as well to finish out that part of my collection.

You might know as much as anyone else on AAPK about new Remington Bullet Knives but I'll watch and see what pops up. The Camillus made versions are discussed more often in the Camillus sub-forun. There is not a hard and fast rule but this sub-forum was primarily intended for Remington made knives.

Coincidentally discovered this thread while searching this exact topic today. Haven't yet come to a conclusion about exact years on damascus knives but will continue to search. I am in the process of compliling my own list of 82 and up bullet knives currently and hoping to not miss any lol. I will pose another question since this group seems knowledgable, I know they made some engraved silver bullets in addition to the normal ones, I believe they made 500 each year they did it. Anyone know which years they made the engraved silver bullets?

I am tracking the following:
1997: R1123-D Damascus Bullet (Damascus | Engraved | Dark Jig)
1998: R1173-D Baby Bullet (Damascus | MOP)
2015: R11001 (4466D) The Cliffhanger (Damascus | Amber Jig)
2016: R11039 The Boss (Damascus | Amber Jig)

These are the only three I am aware of but like anything Im sure there are more

Didn't Bear & Son take over production of these? Except for a few GECs.

They did engraved silver bullets from 1988 through 2000 every year. Towards the end there were smaller runs of only 350. I have everyone except the 2000. I have many Damascus knives from 1997 through 2017. Some years they made multiple Damascus versions. I will be gone from my collection for a month but when I return I will compile a list of all the bullet knives I have (179 of them).

For 1996 I am only finding the 2 variations of the Trailhand (bullet shiled and round shield). Was there a sterling bullet knife that year? If so what model was it? And for 97 there was the lumberjack and the anniversary lumberjack. Can you confirm if there was an engraved knife that year? I have not yet found reference to one.

Display case 6 of 12. 1999-2000. I am missing the plain Damascus 1999 knife. I have the engraved version. I am also missing the mother of pearl 1999 Damascus knife and the 2000 silver bullet engraved knife. It should go where the knife with turquoise is. That is a custom knife and the only one displayed in this collection. I generally don’t purchase custom versions but felt this one was done exceptionally well.
