110 Spring Fell Out

How hard is it to reinstall the spring in a Buck 110? Is this a DIY project or a send it back to Buck endeavor?

The knife in question is the red scaled 110 with aluminum bolsters (top right in the photo). The knife is from early 2019 I believe and came directly from Buck, either as a Buck of the Month or a Limited Edition.

I like the looks and weight of the knife, but have not carried it much and it has never even cut anything. I was exercising the knife after applying some lube, and the spring just fell out.

If I send it back to Buck and they decide it is not repairable, will they send it back or just issue a credit and keep the knife (for liability reasons )? I would want the knife back either repaired or not.

Are you sure it just fell out, or did the spring break and the largest broken piece fell out and the other broken piece is still anchored in the knife? If the spring broke on an almost new knife, I would think Buck would cover it under warranty.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had not considered that possibility. On inspection, both ends are pretty smooth. I suppose this one will go back to Buck. Buck is noting about 8+ weeks turn around time.

I would send it back to Buck. Wonder if the spring was installed correctly from the factory. The way those are seated in the bloster and ride on the locking bar I can’t imagine how the spring would ever fall out. If you want the knife back one way or the other I would include a note. Quite some time back I sent a one line 120 back that the handle had a chunk out of it, I stressed I wanted it repaired NOT replaced. They did a dandy job.
